We said in this space several issues ago that procurement people ought to trumpet their achievements loudly when they have something to be proud of. In this issue we have several examples of world-class achievement being trumpeted loud and clear. All winners of the inaugural ELP Awards earlier this year demonstrate various aspects of what marks out as truly excellent procurement operations.
The supplier performance management system adopted by Vodafone, for example, is an impressive global initiative in an area right at the heart of procurement. The ability to manage suppliers effectively in a worldwide organisation is complex, but fundamental. Many multinational corporations could learn a thing or two from its experience.
